Jessica Moraes is a registered nurse, with a background in paediatric emergency nursing, a registered midwife and maternal child health nurse. A mother of three young adventurous boys Jessica is continually learning and expanding her knowledge regarding parenting, child development and maternal health and wellbeing.
Dedication to supporting and empowering families and women during pregnancy, postpartum and along their parenting journey is her passion. Jessica’s practice is informed by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy of child development, health and wellbeing.
Jessica offers maternal child health nursing consultations for children and their families from birth until 3.5 years of age as well as paediatric immunisation services.
She collaborates with colleague Seneka Cohen who is currently on leave.
Meeting with your Maternal and Child Health Nurse
There are ten key ages and stages consultations recommended to review your child’s ongoing development and wellbeing. These include: a home visit and consultations at 2, 4 and 8 weeks, 4, 8, 12 and 18 months, 2 and 3.5 years of age for all children and their families.
Visits within the first seven weeks of life, including the first home visit, are charged on par with the Medicare rebate equivalent.
Maternal health support includes a focus on the mother’s physical and emotional health and recovery from birth, breastfeeding, and settling techniques, with space provided for consideration of changes to roles and relationships, and the challenges of parenting.
Jessica works collaboratively with other health professionals and can assist with referrals where necessary.
